I am moving to Chicago

hello everyone - I am living in Florida and I am thinking about moving to Chicago - any suggestions as to what area. I have 2 small dogs so looking for place with fenced yard. I was thinking maybe around the Des Plaines area???? Looking for some input. Thanks Julie

Florida is too cold, so you're moving to Chicago for winter????? Well if you do move, welcome to the state of Illinois Julie. I hope you'll enjoy it here, and I'll have to come north for a visit. As far as housing, I can't help you, but good luck.

Des Plaines is a pretty good area, but I will caution you on a couple things. First the town is called Des Plaines because it is a flood plain for the Des Plaines river and can flood pretty easily. So look for a place that is towards the SW end of town and be sure to ask about floods. Especially ask about Sept 2008. We had 3 days of rain and my house flooded.
First time my tax payer dollars ever came back to me. Yeah FEMA.

Hey thanks for the info but since we have had a cold snap here in Florida and I barely got thru that - I have decided not to head North -Only to visit which I will be there end of May and first week in June..... Getting to old for this cold weather shit.....
