You should have called her before you let it get to 40 min. That's just the way it is. doesn't matter what the business is. If you're gonna be late, you call right away and let them know.

Heh. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Did you ever get outcall? I have yet to see a girl arrive on time.

I think it's a case-by-case kind of thing. The good thing to do is to call as soon as you figure out that you will be late, not after you are already late. If someone expects you at a certain time, it would be nice to know something before hand or AT the expected time. If you let someone simmer with no input from you the results are usually negative.

I arranged a meeting with someone by email not too long ago. I knew I was going to be running a bit late a few hours previously and emailed to change the time. I didn't receive a response but just assumed it had been received (not much I could do about it anyway. Anyway, I checked my email before leaving and had received a very offensive email from the provider full of expletives. Obviously, I won't be seeing her any time soon. I think I did everything right and if she asks you to book by email, you should be able to cancel or change times by email as well. IMO, a couple of hours is okay for notice...things happen and no way would I pay for her lost time in this case.

seriously? I'm always on time... and if traffic is crazy, I call and say I'll be 5 min late. i hate it when others disrespect my time....

If you're going to be late you can always call.

I'm in southern California. Nobody's ever on time here.

We've only been late twice.

Once by 5 minutes - and we did not remember to bring a phone # so we could not call, reason: traffic.

Recently by 15 minutes - we called because the directions were not clear enough and we got lost.

We will give clients a courtesy of 5-10 minutes WITHOUT a call. We expect to be called at the earliest moment a client suspects they may be late.

With a call, we have been known to extended great latitiude (even up to as much as a couple hours - if possible).

We HATE no-call/no-shows and failing to show without a call is the fastest way to get your phone / email / text blown up! This is RUDE, I will not reward rudeness!

Guys, here's another ALEX TIP:

If you know your situtaion for punctuality is severely tenuous and un-reliable, you should EXPECT to compensate the provider for her time - even if you can't show or if she has run out of time to accomodate your lateness. (We suggest at least 50% of her fee if not all of it - bottom line, you bought time, and it's your fault for using it carelessly).

SUGGESTION: In your outside life, set what I call as a "FALSE TIME CONSTRAINT" and pad it appropriately. This can be a "doctors appointment" or a "meeting" etc.

Set 2 phone alarms, the first is to wind-down and prep to leave, the second (about 10 minutes later) is when you should be leaving.

Once in your car, call (text or email whatever is the preferred method) the provider to let her know your on your way - even if you will be on time.

I live on NYC notorious for two rain drops screwing up entire city's transportation system and still I manage to arrive to all my appointments on time.

As for what is accepted level of tardiness ... 5 - 15 min.

I haven't done many outcalls over the years but I'm quite sure I've never had a provider show up on time. It doesn't really bother me since I expect them to be 10 minutes or so late...they are women!

me to. I sometimes have to go get gas or a bite to eat to give them time to finish getting ready, for I often find myself at their place too early.
When I travel, and stay in Hotels, 99% of the providers I call are 10-30 minutes late. Now I never get to upset since I know they have to find the Hotel, and the room, but I would think they could set aside time for that. out of maybe 8 providers, had one show up early, about 5 minutes, 2 on time, and the rest.....

yeah for incalls i'm usually all set and ready 15 min before the appointment because they all tend to be early...

and geez... you do a few outcalls in your city, and you know how long it takes to find a hotel. ugh.
but yeah.. i know a lot of girls who are unable to follow directions, can't read a map, and can't really drive either. i wonder how they ever get anywhere.
