Thailand
I have never visited Thailand but I have been seriously considering it as of late. I know very little about traveling there aside from the general things you hear about it being an unusually fun place.
I'd appreciate advice on the following:
1. Where can I get the best deal on a (Hobbyist-style) vacation package (flights, best place to stay, etc.)?
2. What are the best/safest places to frequent when I get there?
3. What is the proper way to approach (or deal with being approached by) Thai providers?
4. If you've been there, was it worth it? Is it all they say it is?
Thank you kindly.

stay on the ground floor establishments and stay on the soi side. soi 4-6 is where most of the foreigners hang. noi's beer bar over on the dark side is also good but its all aussies so they have their peculiarities; your going to have to be able to hang with if you want to party over there
it may be illegal but no one bothers the guys spending money. however stay with the licensed gros do not pick up the street girls. most of the problems come from the street girls.
do not be an ass you will get yours kicked. Thai are some of the most violent people in the world behind those smiles.
soapys are a good tme and very safe for the most part ive had trips where all i did was three soapys a day and had a blast.
have fun
Thanks for the info guys. This is a helpful overview.
Do you guys know of any type of adult "vacation package" or group trip where me and a friend could travel with a group of experienced vacationers? I would imagine that the safest way to go would be to travel with someone who knows the ropes.
I have also wondered about those adult vacation packages, you see them advertised flight, room and between 1-3 women per night or a different one every night, but i do belive they ask you to wire money to hold your reservation which i would not trust but i dont think you could go to a travel agent and book these vacations through them.
That's one of the things I'm worried about - finding a trustworthy package, if any.
Also, because I'm so green, I'm worried about not having someone who knows the ropes to travel with. As moebius mentioned, Thailand could be a dangerous and violent place.
i went alone my first time, just book a flight on expedia or your travel site of choice. then stay at the orchid hotel its near the hotspots the staff are friendly and most speak english well enough to figure out what your saying.
my first trip i would stick to the soapys and just live with being overcharged for everything. its still cheap as hell so who cares.
have you been there recently moebius? I heard Thailand had become significantly more expensive with the wave of tourism. Someone recommended Cambodia to me instead.
hmm its been about a year, i had noticed on my last visit prices were going up but just chalked it up to being there during the busy season since they fluctuate day to day almost.
ive never been to cambodia myself so dont have alot of info.
yolu might want to check out the Phil i was there about 8 months ago and while prices were up it was still pretty cheap.
Thailand may be more expensive but I'm sure its still a heck of a deal if you compare it with what we pay here.
