The Strip Club Name Game: Atlanta Edition

Picking a strip club for a night out is a big deal. You don't want to end up at the club renowned not so much for hot girls as for the smell of onions and bathrooms that look like they're where Japanese horror movies are filmed. And the frustrating truth of the matter is, clubs don't show their hand when it comes to names. You can't just see the name online and know if you're about to walk into heaven on Earth or the Island of Dr. Moreau. So how exactly do these clubs go about finding the perfect name?

Strip clubs tend to run a sort of Mad Libs approach to naming. Generally you’re going to see a few common themes. Atlanta clubs are no exception and stand up to the test of tantalizing you, the patron, with certain words that hit you where it counts.

The Glitzy Strip Club

Some clubs want to hook you with an image of glamour. The girls are high class and you’re going to have a good time. How could you not at places like 24K Club, Goldrush Showbar, Onyx and Platinum 21? Admittedly, names like that could also mean your wallet is about to bend over and take it in the extreme, but we can only hope the memories, or at least the boobs, are worth it.

The Dirty Strip Club

Some clubs like a little tease, just so no one forgets what’s going to be going on inside. They can’t come right out and call it Club Titties in Your Face, but you can get Bare Necessities, Club 2 Risque, Fantasy Fare, Harem Lingerie, Club Wax, XTC Live Girls and Pleasers Playhouse.

The Wild Strip Club

Is it a love of nature or just something about the idea that what you’re about to see is a little untamed and potentially dangerous? Who knows, but mix naked women and animals (in a non-creepy way, mind you) and you end up at clubs like Cheetah, Crazy Horse Saloon, Foxy Lady Lounge and Pink Pony. The all promise a wild time and hopefully a lack of rabies.

The Action Strip Club

Like any good Bruce Willis movie, or any bad Steven Seagal one, a name chock full of action and excitement is sure to get some attention. Boomers, Goosebumps, Trapeze Club and Follies all imply something is going to be going on once you get inside. Hopefully something that doesn’t involve Steven Seagal.

The Classy Strip Club

These names are the lobster and vintage wine options, high brow and subtly sexy, you’re expecting topless valet parking here (even if you don’t get it). Blue Flame Lounge, Clermont Lounge and Tiffany's all sound like they’re going to make you reserve a seat for your next lap dance.

The Fun Strip Club

Sometimes you just want to let people know they’re going to have a good time if they come in and have a beer. And while you could call your club Willy Wonka’s Wet and Wild Women Wonderland, you’re probably in the same ballpark with Oasis Goodtime Emporium, Living Dolls, Tattletale Lounge, Doll House, Magic City and Fannie’s, which we hope actually wasn’t founded by a woman named Fanny, as that would be sad.
